Text Box: Holiday greetings from Florida. This year has been challenging mixed with some good things and some not so good things. We continue to enjoy our retirement and stay busy doing the things we love. We have made some wonderful friends and it is always fun spending time with them and our family. We are lucky to have daughters, grandsons, and Mike’s Mom living close to us. A special memory this year was Mike and our grandson Zach kayaking at Silver Springs, FL. We traveled to Bryant, AL in the summer to visit Sondra’s family. Our son, Shawn and his family made a few trips from Fuquay Varina, NC during the year to visit and it is always a blessing to see them. In October, Mike traveled to Windsor, NC to celebrate his Aunt Ruby’s 90th birthday and visited with cousins he hadn’t seen in many years. We took a road trip to Myrtle Beach, SC to see the beach, visit with friends and for Mike to play some golf. We had a great time and great weather. Mike was also able to visit his friend Doug in Gloucester, NC. March and April were challenging and sad months for us. We lost the patriarch of our family, Mike’s Dad, Walt. He passed away at the age of 93 after taking a fall in March working in the yard. We were blessed to have him in our life for so long but we miss him terribly. Even with the challenges that life sometimes throws our way, we realize what a wonderful life we have. It has been a blessed year for us. We wish all our family and friends Happy Holiday. We pray that each of you will enjoy good health and much happiness in the New Year. The world can be a crazy place sometimes, so for our sanity, let’s strive to be kind to each other.
